Grd. 5 Tesselations and Oil Pastel Workshop
Students finished up tracing their designs with a sharpie and then began the oil pastel workshop. We practiced carving and blending.

Grd. 2 Self-Portraits
Here are some self-portraits students made from observation by looking in a mirror. Students added a background, put them in a frame, decorated the frame, and then finished up by writing an artist statement.

Grd. 1: Meaningful Sculptures
Students worked on the skill of pulling out the clay. They were asked to think of a person in their life and turn them into an animal. Students had to be careful to pull out clay parts so their sculpture would stay strong and stand up on its own.

Grd. 3 Inner Self-Portrait Books
Today we wrapped our book covers. It was exciting and to celebrate we listened to the song happy and had a mini dance party at the start of class.
Students were challenged to create an abstract design for the front and back cover of their books. They got very inventive with different techniques and tools as you can see below. Next week we will attach our covers and begin writing an artists statement.
Grd. 4: Drawing Our Meaningful Sculptures from Observation
Students thought about how paying attention to the line and shape relationships can help get down an accurate drawing. Soon we will paint our sculptures from observation.
