Pop Up Drawings and Roy Lichtenstein!

The student below is working on pop up sketches of ideas he has about a video game he would like to invent. Could you create your own character for a comic strip, cartoon, or video game? Extra challenge: Can you draw the character with its head turned in different directions?
Below is a similar work by artist Roy Lichtenstein who was also inspired by comic strips. This work is titled "Whaam!" and its influence came from when he served in the United States Army during World War II.

Artwork From Home and Hand Drawings!

Students at Woodrow Wilson continue to keep up a home studio practice.
This student had to go slow and really look as she made an observation drawing of her hand.
Below is a well known hand drawing artists named M.C. Escher. Notice how both artists paid special attention to details in their drawings. How do you pay attention to details in your artwork?

Artwork Done At Home Take 2

Below is more artwork done at home. Having a home art making practice is a great way to brush up on your CRAFT. Craft is when artists take the Time to Practice with different techniques, tools, and materials. The student below is working on a seris of hockey player drawings. He draws them from observation from the hockey cards he collects. If you made a seris of artwork what would your subject be? Below his work is a painting by Emily Eveleth. Emily has been working on a series of Jelly Donut paintings for many years. Check out more of her work here: http://www.emilyeveleth.com/index.html
This student drew her dream bedroom.
This student keeps his artwork in a transparent folder.
Last we have the first painting brought in from home. This is an emoji with heart eyes sticking out his tongue. Nice Background! Here is a challenge: Can you create an emoji that does not yet exist?
Keep up your home art practice!

Artwork Done at Home!

Here is some recent artwork Woodrow Wilson kids have done at home.

This is one page of many in a sketch book this student has at home. Sketchbooks are a great way to record your ideas.

This lego sculpture helped us discuss the difference between relief sculpture and sculpture in the round. Do you know the difference?
